A few days after the arbitration, my father flies home; the day after that, I open my mailbox. It contains two bills: A medical bill that is a direct consequence of my health insurance being canceled, $4,000; and a legal bill that doesn’t yet include the tally of the mediation, $3,000.
I’m a little stressed, but then my calm returns.
I’m not sure how it’s going to be okay, but it is.
